These ICT-based History lessons follow a sequence in looking at the causes of the Holocaust and whether it was a new phenomenon in Nazi Germany. They also explore how the Nazi treatment of racial minority groups escalated from 1933 and why German people did not intervene to stop the beginnings of a Holocaust.
As the ICT lessons are being taught students will analyse a ‘film-based' [Schindler’s List] interpretation of the Holocaust, and question ‘What did Spielberg leave out of Schindler’s List?’
The unit gives students opportunities to view the portrayal of the Holocaust by different mediums and from differing perspectives. They are encouraged to form their own views and use ICT to put across their own interpretations.
