By the end of the unit of lessons, students should be able to…
- Recall the key features of the persecution of the Jews and other minority groups in the Holocaust
- Describe how the Holocaust has been remembered / portrayed by different ‘interest groups’
- Explain why there are different ‘interpretations’ of the Holocaust, while evaluating websites [see project links]
- Compare and contrast the differences in the interpretations which they have discovered.
- Produce their own interpretation of the Holocaust, based on their research of various media – texts, books, articles, film, websites
- Consider how the Internet has been used to portray the Holocaust as an historical event
- Assess the reliability of the information found on the Internet and evaluate its worth, taking into account the opinions of ‘interest groups’
- Use Web authoring software to present their own ideas on the Holocaust, taking into account the concepts of audience and purpose
- Evaluate their work on the Holocaust and consider where the reliability of information and sources impacts upon other historical interpretations
