The project is an on-line revision tool for people studying GCSE Geography.

It covers the five main areas [listed below] using an interactive slide show to inform which can be used for revision. Although all the topics are covered inside one powerpoint presentation it is not anticipated that a student would work thorough more than one topic per session.

There is then a separate short self marking test for each of the topics to test the level of understanding.  These can be accessed straight from the slide show at the end of each topic if preferred.

Pupils can also then look at how this knowledge can be used in real GCSE questions with examples of good and not so good answers given. Along with tips to improve answers and gain extra marks.

In order to allow the powerpoint to access the tests automatically it would be necessary to download all the files into one area first.

The areas covered are

  • Population distribution
  • Population structure
  • Migration
  • Demographic Transition Model
  • Population change

A few links are given within the slide show that would be useful for pupils to supplement their knowledge.  These were relevant and active at the time of writing but could of course, change with time.

Finally there is also a file called ‘A Question of Population’ which is set out like the picture board in ‘A Question of Sport’.  It includes images that can either promote discussion or be used by a teacher to read out questions to go which them that they can set at the desired level for their pupils.
