Reading comprehension, vocabulary extension and writing
Worksheet
This should be printed off and used in class as a reading comprehension followed by a writing activity using a writing frame. This could potentially be expanded upon later to form the basis of a piece of KS4 coursework.
Linguamate Quizzes
These three interactive games focus on the language learned from the reading, as well as vocab taken from Activity 1. They work well as team games on an interactive whiteboard, or can be used for individual student practice. The multiple choice quiz can be played with or without a time limit, and there are 3 incorrect answers and one correct answer, students win a maximum of ten bananas! Both the snakes and ladders and the triple quizzes use the same words and phrases as the multi-choice quiz. The triple quiz is a bit like Connect Four.
