Instructions for the use of the PowerPoint are shown in the notes sections.

Lessons 2 and 3

  Presentation: Changing the variables

This lesson also has five worksheets with it all with the main heading ‘dissolving sugar’. The practical help sheets are designed primarily to be used with lower ability classes or individual students in mixed ability. They can also be helpful if short on time. Extra instructions can be found on the PowerPoint notes sections. The lesson should ideally be run in a double period, though if only singles are available then the planning stage could be done in the first of the two singles and the practical in the second

  Matching pairs game

The flash game is designed to test the students understanding of the key words in this topic and could be used at the end of any of the lessons. Ideally it should be run on an interactive white board, and preferably as a competition to find out who can do it the fastest (either individually or in small teams). There is a 60 second time limit on the game.
