Defensive Action

Defence Action (often referred to as "DA") is used to defend yourself from attack from other players. If a player with greater Strike Action attacks you then they will steal some of your gold. Attacks often happen when you are not online but you are alerted to recent attacks and you can see attacks in the attack log.

Defence weapons

Defence weapons are listed in your armoury and are automatically handed to soldiers (as long as you have enough soldiers) and used in battle with other players. You can buy as many defence weapons as you can afford. Each different race has different defence weapons available to them. More powerful weapons cost more but typically offer better value so it is better to buy a few strong weapons then many weak weapons for the same gold.

Defence weapons improve your Defensive Action according to:

  1. Their strength (stated next to its name in the armoury)
  2. The strength of the soldier using the weapon (with a value of either 4 or 5, depending on whether the soldier is untrained or trained)
  3. Your level of Fortification. At the start, your fortification multiplies your normal Defensive Action by 1. Fortification can be upgraded using gold, to increase it each time by 25%. For example, the first fortification upgrade, Stockade, multiplies your basic Strike Action by 1.25.

The formula for Defence Action then is a x (b x c) x d x e

Where:
a = 4 or 5, 4 for an untrained soldier, 5 for a trained soldier
b = The amount of a kind of weapon you have
c = The strength of that weapon
(there can be multiple b's and c's, as you can have different types of weapons)
d = Your fortification ( 1 + (number of fortifications x 0.25))
e = 1 or Your race bonus (Dwarves have 50% defence bonus, Orcs have 20%)

If you have more weapons than soldiers, the unused weapons don't count in this formula.
