There a 12 main tools on the main tool bar. The functions of these are explained below

Sketch tool Hold down the mouse button and draw a closed shape to make a Polygon.  Hold down shift to draw straight lines. Draw a shape around a shapes to select, a circle inside of a shape to add a hinge,   an X to create a Fixate,  a zigzag for a spring. a / through an object to delete, image:sketch tool.png The brush tool is similar to the Sketch tool, but does not allow drawing inside objects or hinges.  You can move objects by clicking on them with the brush tool and moving them. image:brush tool.png
Box tool Hold down the mouse button and drag to create a box.  Hold down shift while drawing to create a square. image:box tool.png Circle tool: Hold down the mouse button and drag to create a Circle. image:circle tool.png
The Plane tool allows you to establish a "ground" (objects drawn in Phun are affected by gravity so without this objects will fall off the bottom of the screen.) The plane my be horizontal or sloping. image:plane tool.png Chain tool: hold down the mouse button and drag to create a chain.  Hold down shift to create a straight chain.  image:chain tool.png
Spring  tool, press the mouse button and drag to create a spring.  You can connect springs to objects or to the background. image:spring tool.png Fixate tool fixes objects to each other or to the ground image:fixate tool.png
The Hinge tool provides a pivot (right clicking on a circle gives you the option to create an axle in the centre). image:hinge tool.png Pen tool: click on an object to add a pen to it.  Pens leave a trail behind them. image:pen tool.png
The Drag tool works when an animation is actually running image:drag tool.png Scale tool  Click on an object(s) and drag the circles in the box/outline to scale the object.  image:scale tool.png
