Lesson 1

Starter: Students to find a definition for the words in the Powerpoint presentation

Introduction: After watching the video clip, explain that students will be creating a website for this campaign, to provide information and advice for other children in the school.

Development: Students use an internet search engine or follow suggested links to find and evaluate three current bullying websites, filling in the evaluation worksheet.

Plenary: Students asked what makes a good/bad webpage, giving examples to support their points.

Extension or homework: Students to write a brief explanation of what makes a good inform/advice website.

Lesson 2

Starter: In pairs, students write a detailed definition of bullying in 25 words or less. Teacher hears examples and types up a collective definition on an interactive whiteboard which is saved for later reference.

Introduction: Quick mindmap on the IWB of common features of inform/advise webpages. Explain that students will be using internet to copy and paste examples of these features into Word, along with a brief explanation as to why each feature is important.

Development:Students create an appropriate Word document to include the name of each feature, a small example and a brief explanation. Display the sample response if required.

Plenary: Which are the essential features of an inform/advise webpage? See example. Students reorder their Word document in order of perceived importance and compare results with rest of class.

Lesson 3

Starter: Recap key conventions of webpages by questioning students. [Could display mindmap from last lesson to evaluate recall or add additional items.]

Introduction: Outline differences between inform and advise. What are conventions of each? Students try to find an example of each from a bullying website – come to IWb and display to rest of class, underlining use of conventions.

Development: Using existing bullying sites for guidance, students write information and advice in Word for fellow students and the local community.

Plenary: Allow students to describe some examples so the rest of the class can evaluate and feedback. Save and print work.

Homework: Students plan a brief outline of their proposed webpage for discussion with partner(s) next lesson.
