We are only too familiar with the cries to help save our planet from the effects of global warming.  However, it is easy to let this overshadow some of the other issues we face as we plan our future on this planet.

The question of sustainability is at the heart of geographical studies and is often now being taught as a unit on its own. It is relevant for both Geography and Citizenship. This unit focuses on those other issues [although often related to climate change].  It provides a series of lessons that can be taught as such or to pick out topics of choice to deliver as stand alone subjects.

There are some major issues that need to be faced and it is our job to highlight these to the generation that may be responsible for solving them.  It is primarily aimed at KS3 or KS4 but could be easily adapted to suit other ages or abilities.

I have based the layout of my project on the one submitted by Paul Hunt on weather reporting as I found this clear and easily accessible.
