This unit is based around the DiDA model using an 'SPB' (summative project brief). The 'SPB' outlines each task the pupils need to complete and provides hints and proformas to use. When I use this, I generally spend 15 minutes with the class completing some introductory work (for example, looking at some examples of a ticket and then analysing its good/bad points). We then spend the rest of the hour lesson completing the task. At the end of the unit we complete a '2 stars and a wish' lesson to feedback on the pupils progess (an AfL lesson). Click here to see the suggested lesson plan for this (here is the taxonomy sheet too). I have just run this and it went really well - the pupils got a lot out of it and now all know what they need to do to hit the next level! We mark this in two ways - firstly we level the pupils with a KS3 level using the normal criterea. We also mark it using these guidance notes to give an approximate grade at GCSE level (based on the DiDA model). The mark sheet we use can be found here. It includes room at the bottom for your '2 stars and a wish' (two good points and one thing that needs improving). There is also a full mark scheme to help pupils self assess and guide teachers with less experience of DiDA marking here. |
