Planning is an important part of the web design process and most new designers don't really give planning the time it deserves. There is an attempt within the resource to emphasise planning; it looks at two methods using sketches and wireframe diagrams. The subject of navigation is touched upon but this needs more careful consideration and the use of tree-type hierarchical diagrams or concept maps is highly recommended.

I would recommend the use of concept map software such as the excellent Inspiration.

There are also a number of free online web applications available now which allow one to produce concept maps.

The resource uses a navigation structure which is aplicable to DIDA courses and this could of course be changed. You do , however, need to be aware that the video tutorials use this navigation structure and students will confidently produce what they are shown so a customisation lesson starter needs to be inserted to make sure that students plan thier navigation to suit the needs of that particular e-portfolio or website.
