About Karine Kleywegt

Karine Kleywegt at the 2007 Teachnet Awards Event “I am 37 year old French National. My wish was always to study English and teach the language in France but I was very fortunate to find myself moving to England at the end of my French university studies, getting married in France in 1995 and having 2 lovely children now aged 9 and 11.

After obtaining a BEd Secondary French Degree and a BA (Hons) in Education, I taught French, Spanish and some German in four different schools in Kent. I am currently Director of Learning for Modern Foreign Languages at Hugh Christie Technology College in Tonbridge, Kent. I am a member of the MFL Cluster Group within the West Kent Learning Federation. I also take part in the MFL Strategic Learning Network in South West Kent - part of The National Centre for Languages (CILT) - KS3 MFL Dissemination and Development programme.”

About Carine Jacquel

Carine Jacquel at the 2007 Teachnet Awards Event"I am a 29 year old French National. I did most of my degree in Nancy in France and completed it at Stirling University [Scotland] over two years. I passed both my Masters and my PGCE the same year in 2001-2002 and then took on my first teaching post at Hillview School for Girls in Tonbridge, Kent where I taught French and Spanish to all year groups and later on took on teaching ICT when I became eLearning Coordinator.

I was Leading Teacher for a year before becoming an AST in MFL/ICT and co-ordinating the West Kent Learning Federation MFL e-learning group. I also played a key role in Hillview School's assessment for the ICT Mark in 2007.

The beginning of 2008 saw a change of role for me - I am now the Hands on Support Consultant for Secondary Schools at the Advisory Service for Kent."
