About Romina

This piece of work on the cardiovascular system is designed for the Anatomy and Physiology module for Health and Social Care A level, OCR syllabus and suitable for students of all abilities. However, it can be used as a resource for any anatomy or physiology modules in A level Biology.

The resource is divided into a series of short PowerPoint presentations with linked activities for that particular section. It is recommended that the presentations are used in the order suggested:

  • Blood cells and blood groups
  • Blood vessels
  • Heart and circulation
  • Dysfunctions of the cardiovascular system

The presentations highlight all key points that need to be covered in terms of the teaching of theory of anatomy and physiology. In conjunction with this, each dysfunction must be explained in terms of the positive and negative impact on patients' lives.

There is a glossary of key terms that can be handed out at the beginning of the unit or used as a revision aid at the end of teaching. Answers are provided.

At the end of the unit, an end of topic test is provided. This covers the key points of the unit and a mark scheme is provided. An extra task would be to allow pupils to use the online mark scheme to correct their test and highlight the areas they need to work on.
