"After teaching the whole module to a a high ability class, the pertinent catch phrase is used at the end of revision session as an aide de memoire. The bright students soon solve the puzzle pictures and remember them on the following occasions they are used.

The low ability classes have no idea how to solve the puzzles at first but if you explain how the scientific word is made up then they remember the picture and link some of the information given about the word. It fires up their imagination and interest in science. Low ability students love to play and learn and it has certainly worked with the groups I teach and have taught in the past.

I have used catch phrase for revision for the last six years, but this current set are solely for biology and are directly related to the Edexcel 360 Science scheme. They have been produced in direct response to the needs of the students as an up-to-date revision tool."
