This is a fun learning resource which is aimed at Key Stage 3 year 7 and year 8 learners. The aim is to develop learners' skills and prepare them for GCSE coursework at Key Stage 4; it is the perfect starter to learners who are using the Unit 1 OCR Nationals in ICT although it can also be used as a totally independant Key Stage 3 learning resource which meets the criteria for the new ICT National Framework.

The materials help learners to develop hands-on skills for creating and developing a 'sweet shop business'. Learners are encouraged to make logos, promotional posters, business documents, a supplier database and a profit/loss spreadsheet. There is also an extension activity involving learners in designing their own brand of sweet, chocolate and drink.

Learners will be working towards a National Curriculum Level 6 depending on quality of work, imagination and their ability to work independently. The minimum level that this resource covers is a National Curriculum Level 4 for those who need additional assistance.
