Teacher reads the poem On Drowning [an extract from Richard III by Shakespeare] and explains that this is a more graphic representation of sea-life. The students should use the following prompts to think about the poem [using the worksheet to prompt ideas].

Teacher lists the positive and negative words, and record ideas on board or flip chart. |

Teacher asks the students what they learned about sea and sea-life from the two poems, and to record their ideas - dangerous, comforting, relaxing, threatening etc. |
