This project is designed to bring together children’s skills in Science, DT and ICT. It is truly cross curricular and was used with classes of Year 5 and Year 6 children but could be easily adapted for any Key Stage 2 children. Reception children made an excellent audience during the test days!

This Gifted and Talented Project for children in years 4-6 also links to the KS2 Science topic 'Healthy Living' by looking at the design of a portable water storage system for the primary classroom.

This project aims to give pupils practical and scientific activities in the production of a hovercraft. Pupils learn how to shape and joint polystyrene, card and wood, and also assemble an electric circuit.

This simple scheme of work is designed to run over the course of 5 weeks and aims to give Year 6/7 pupils an insight into KS3/4 Design Technology.

This  project brought together the cross curricular themes of Design Technology, Religious Education and Enterprise ... whilst also forging links with the local community. It was undertaken by students in year 10 prior to commencing their GCSE Resistant Materials Product Design course.

This project is something that can be easily adapted/added on to any Product Design project. It covers Scale of Production, CAD/CAM, Use of 2D Design, and Packaging. The lesson on Scale of Production is especially enjoyable for my students. If required, you could extend the project to cover paper as a material and packaging/recycling logos as well.

The videos give instruction in the correct and safe use of machines that secondary pupils are typically allowed to use with training, without direct supervision.  The visual training is the most effetive, particularly as it allows the students to watch in comfort rather than standing around a machine in a large group.

This project supports the development of creative skills and covers key aspects of the new curriculum for Design Technology. The project can be extended still further to reseach into industrial printing and use of designs in conjunction with computer-aided design.

Rollerball is intended as an introductory 'design and make' task for Yr 7 students in a school workshop, with basic hand tools and power driven equipment. If you have the luxury of a lazer cutter or router the practical project could easily be modified to include aspects of this work within the construction process and the student book modified to reflect this.

Containers follows the same format as the Rollerball project above but is a 'design and make' task for Yr 8 students.

This project has been used for Year 7 students but could also be used with older students, particularly for boosting confidence with hand-drawing skills. Students are introduced to the drawing tools and some of the 3D tools of ProDesktop. They will learn about workplanes, surfaces and how to create an assembly.

This package supports the teaching and learning of the Edexcel GCE 2008 Design and Technology Product Design [Graphics Products] AS Level 8GR01 examination [Unit 2]. The course is intended to cover 26 weeks teaching time, so one week for each topic, with time for a mock examination and revision.

This project provides examples of how the molecular properties of a material dictate its overall material properties and how we use our knowledge of these properties in the course of designing.

This project focuses on the development of technical drawing skills at KS3. With the use of suitable equipment and processes, the resource encourages students to visualise and construct graphics and shapes to GCSE standard.

The aim of the project is to produce an instructional movie showing the production stages in making an enamelled broach.

A range of mp3 files are provided which can be downloaded into an mp3 player and used when other forms of revision are not possible. The files will complement, rather than replace, more traditional revision techniques.
